Police have released details following the ‘serious’ crash yesterday on the A4.
A cyclist has died after a crash with a van on the road between Avebury and Calne.
The 30-year-old collided with a Peugeot Boxer Van with police informed around 7.55pm on April 21 and was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 60s, has been arrested by Wiltshire Police on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
The deceased cyclist’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Wiltshire Police said: “Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.”
The road remains closed between Cherhill and the Beckhampton roundabout while a full investigation is carried out.
There is heavier traffic in Calne than usual, with the AA reporting delays of three minutes.
