Some trains travelling out of Wiltshire today will be delayed due to a technical fault.

Rail services between Westbury and Weymouth are being forced to run at a reduced speed on all lines due to a points failure.

The disruption is expected until 1:30 pm March 28 while Network Rail works to fix the fault.

A Great Western Railway (GWR) spokesperson said: “We're sorry for the delay to your journey.

“Due to a points failure between Westbury and Weymouth, trains on this route are subject to delays.

“Network Rail are working to fix the fault.

“Points are the equipment used to allow trains to cross from one track to another.”

Meanwhile, trains out of Swindon are being affected by flooding.

Great Western Railway (GWR) is reporting that due to flooding between Swindon and Bristol Parkway one of the lines is closed.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day, with train services running through these stations potentially cancelled or delayed.

Flooding also closed lines between Swindon and Chippenham, as floodwater came over the rail head resulting in a line being closed near Dauntsey.

However, trains are now running normally between the stations.
