A Swindon woman has been charged after she allegedly attacked a police officer in a Wiltshire pub.

Police were called to the Royal Oak in Salisbury at around 8pm on Saturday, March 23 following a reported "disturbance".

Samantha Barnes, of Ocotal Way in Swindon, was at the pub when officers arrived and she is said to have assaulted one of them.

The 41-year-old was arrested and subsequently charged with assaulting an emergency worker.

She was released on bail to appear at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on Friday, April 12.

Another woman in her 40s arrested at the same time on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly. Police issued her a caution.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "Officers were called to a disturbance at the Royal Oak, Devizes Road, Salisbury around 8pm on Saturday (March 3).

"Samantha Barnes, 41, of Ocotal Way, was charged with assaulting an emergency worker and was released on bail to appear at Salisbury Magistrates Court on April 12.

"Another woman in her 40s was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, and was issued with a caution."
