THE ticket office at Trowbridge Railway Station has reopened after weeks of being closed because of staff shortages.
It reopened this week with a new customer sales adviser and Great Western Railway plans to recruit a full-time staff member to help run it.
The train and station operator is advertising a permanent/full-time role at Trowbridge for a customer sales adviser with a salary range of £25,000-£30,000.
A spokesperson for GWR said: "There is scheduled to be a full-time, and a part-time, staff member at Trowbridge.
"One retired [the full-time member] at the end of February and we are seeking to recruit a replacement. The other is currently ill.
“We know this is inconvenient for customers and we are looking to have the ticket office open again as soon as possible.
“In the meantime, customers can buy all of their tickets from our website, mobile app, contact centre, or from any other staffed station.”
The move follows complaints about the ticket office being closed and a self-service ticket machine on the platform being out of service.
It also follows the departure of Toni, 66, who quit at the end of February after working at the station for 17 years.
She had been on sick leave for the past year suffering from anxiety and depression after being asked to attend disciplinary hearings for gross misconduct.
Toni said she had decided to leave GWR rather than face being disciplined on three charges of breaching the company’s respect and dignity policy.
The company alleged she had made “inappropriate comments” relating to both customers and a colleague. Because she quit, these charges were not proven.
