A successful Wiltshire micropub is set to open a new venue in a vacant town centre unit.

The Prince of Wales Micropub opened on Station Hill several years ago and has since enjoyed a number of successes, including being named CAMRA North West Wiltshire Pub of the Year in 2020.

Now the business is set to expand into the town’s Market Place after the owners secured a building that previously housed the Waverley Cafe and then the Royal Ashoka restaurant.

A planning application has been submitted by Raymond Weale, of Grizzly Bars Ltd, to change the use of the premises from a licensed restaurant to a craft beer bar.

It is hoped the new pub will open this summer.

Speaking on Facebook, a spokesperson for the business said: “We are delighted to announce, that after a lengthy search, we have secured a second venue in Chippenham.

“We feel very privileged to have the opportunity to bring such an iconic building back to life.

“As always, there are a few administrative matters to attend to but we're aiming to open ready for the height of summer.
