The Isle of Wight's 'planning bible' could be a step closer to approval.

The draft Island Planning Strategy will once again come before the Isle of Wight Council tonight, Wednesday, March 20, after a pause to consider other options.

Now the plan is back before councillors for approval before it is consulted and then sent to the government's Planning Inspectorate for consideration.

The full council meeting will also hear an update from the Future Governance Working Group which is devising plans to move the authority away from a leader and cabinet model to one of a committee system, to make it more inclusive.

Members will also agree their allowance scheme for the financial year ahead — which is an amount of money councillors can take for fulfilling their role.

The council will also select two members to represent it on the Ryde Town Board to help determine where the £20 million allocated to the town by government will be spent in the next ten years.

Also on the agenda, is a potential change to the staff and councillors parking policy following Cllr Karl Love's motion in September last year.

The meeting will start at 6pm in County Hall, Newport.

Public questions can be asked by attending the meeting in person.
