Police have issued a warning to Wiltshire residents after an investigation was launched into a stolen bird bath and washing line.

Officers are probing after several expensive items were reportedly taken from a garden, in the Pewsham area of Chippenham, overnight between February 24 and 25.

These items included a stone bird bath, a rotary washing line, and six lengthy stone planters up to a metre long.

It is believed the garden fence was either pushed down or brought down by the wind.

The items were described by police as heavy and bulky and likely required a vehicle to remove.

Officers are continuing to investigate the alleged theft and have urged any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We are appealing for information and urging residents to be mindful after a number of high value items were stolen from a garden in Chippenham.

“We are urging anyone who may be offered the items for sale or anyone with information to call 101 and quote crime reference number 54240024576.

“Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
