Drivers are set to be hit with further delays on one of the busiest roads in Wiltshire as roadworks continue.

A lane closure and temporary traffic lights were in place on the A4 London Road at the Pewsham Roundabout, heading westbound into Chippenham, during Thursday, March 7.

These roadworks look set to continue for several days and are scheduled to be completed by Wednesday, March 13.

Commuters reported lengthy delays during the morning rush hour on Thursday, with queues on the busy route stretching back past Derry Hill towards Calne.

One person said: “There are traffic lights at the roundabout at Pewsham.

“It’s taken 40 minutes to get from the top of Derry Hill to the lights. When will we ever get a break?”

The delays come shortly after similar works were carried out on the A4 at Chilvester Hill, on the edge of Calne.

The latest roadworks are being carried out by Scottish and Southern Power Distribution, according to the council’s roadworks map.

During the works, a lane closure will be in place from the Pewsham Roundabout to the A342 near Derry Hill.

The reason for the roadworks has not been publicised.
