A man has been hospitalised after a car driver reportedly crashed into a tree in the car park of a busy Wiltshire supermarket.
At around 7pm on Friday, March 1, a Kia Picanto was found with significant damage after allegedly crashing into a tree in the main car park of the Sainsbury’s store on Bath Road, Melksham.
A passenger, a man in his 20s from Corsham, was taken to hospital following the smash.
Witnesses reported that the vehicle had previously collided with a bollard in the car park which then became embedded under the front bumper.
Police were called to the scene and arrested a man in his 20s, from Malmesbury, on suspicion of dangerous driving and possession of class A drugs.
He has since been released under investigation while officers continue their enquiries.
Police have urged any further witnesses to contact them.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Police were called to a report of a collision at Sainsburys in Bath Road, Melksham, at approximately 7pm on March 1.
“Witnesses who have not already spoken to police should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54240024667.”
