A motorcyclist has died following a serious crash on a busy Wiltshire A-road.

The biker, a man in his 60s, was involved in a collision with a car on the A342 at Derry Hill, between Chippenham and Calne, at around 1.30pm on Sunday, March 3.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the man was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

Despite the efforts of medical staff, he died of his injuries.

Police have informed his family and have now launched an investigation into the incident.

Any witnesses have been urged to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: “A man in his 60s has died following a collision between a motorcycle and a car on the A342 Derry Hill at about 1.30pm yesterday (March 3).

“His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this incredibly difficult time.
