Wiltshire locals woke up to a surprise 'winter wonderland' on Saturday morning as unexpected snow hit parts of the county.

The snow, which fell heavily in the west and south of Wiltshire, was even a surprise to the Met Office who issued an emergency yellow weather warning for snow in the early hours of Saturday, March 2, 2024.

But many families were delighted at the surprise and put on their welly boots to make the most of the wintery weather while it lasted.

Among those who were captured having fun in the snow were Sonny the dog who was spotted jumping for joy at the thought of a snow day, and baby Arthur George Roberton who experienced snow for the first time in his life in Westbury on Saturday.

Residents from Trowbridge, Bradford on Avon, Melksham, Malmesbury and more all sent in photos of their wintery gardens in a competition to see who had the thickest layer of snow, while children posed with their snowmen creations.

We've compiled all of our favourite snow day snaps sent into the paper here.
