A Chippenham man received a Sexual Harm Order after police received reports of someone acting suspiciously around a local school.

Officers arrested the 46-year-old – who cannot currently be named for legal reasons – last summer and are still investigating the offence.

On Friday, Swindon Magistrates Court issued the suspect with a five-year order that prevents him from engaging in any form of surveillance of a female, including following them, recording them, or waiting outside a school or leisure facility.

He is banned from attending any educational facility usually frequented by females under the age of 18.

The order also prevents him from remaining in the company of any female in circumstances where it has been indicated to him that his company is unwanted.

The order will remain in place for five years or until further direction by the court.

Sgt Jamie Ball said: “This order has been put in place following reports from members of the public which enabled us to submit the relevant information to the courts.

“I hope news of this Sexual Risk Order and our ongoing investigation provide reassurance to the public that we will always take reports of this nature extremely seriously.”
