A Wiltshire town will hold its first ever Pride event this year after months of planning.

Calne will host a Pride event which is planned to take place on June 1, 2024, in the town centre.

The event, which has secured funding from Calne Town Council, will include a parade going through the town at 3pm and a stage hosting performances from a variety of artists until 10pm.

There are also plans for a number of stalls to be set up, and organisers are looking for potential stallholders.

Church Street will be closed to traffic during the event.

The Calne Pride Committee has already held several meetings over the last few months, after planning began in October, and preparations are well underway.

In a post on Facebook a spokesperson for the group added: “We want everyone involved, and we can't wait for this event to take place.”

Several Pride events are now annual occurrences in Wiltshire towns, including Swindon, and last year saw thousands visit Chippenham for the town’s first Pride march.

Organisers are continuing to look for sponsors ahead of the day of festivities, and anybody with an interest in sponsoring Calne Pride should contact them via CalnePride2024@gmail.com
