A Wiltshire care home has raised its CQC rating from 'Requires Improvement' to 'Good' after a visit by inspectors.

Cepen Lodge Care Home, just off the Malmesbury Roundabout on the A350 at Chippenham, had been told to improve its safety measures in 2021, after it was found residents were at “increased risk” of harm.

But during an inspection in November, 2023, the home was judged to have raised its safety and leadership standards to a 'Good' level.

While the inspection was carried out in response to concerns over staffing numbers it was found that there were enough staff to meet people’s needs.

The home, run by Barchester Healthcare, provides residential and specialist dementia care for 63 residents.

Staff were praised by both residents and their relatives for being “kind and caring”.

One person interviewed by inspectors said: “I am really happy with safety, it's great.

“The environment is very secure, and staff really get to know people."

Jade Hodge, senior general manager at the care home, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Cepen Lodge has been rated ‘Good’ following the CQC’s most recent inspection.

“It is fantastic to have the hard work and dedication of everyone here recognised, we have a wonderful team and I am incredibly proud of each and every one of them.”
