A local couple will open a brand new salon for dogs in a Wiltshire town next month.

Dogs Rock Ltd dog groomers will open their first ever Chippenham branch, between Burt’s Boards and Coral on New Road, on February 5.

Ahead of opening, award-winning dog stylist Katie-Jayne Musgrove and her husband Matt will hold an open day at the premises which will be attended by a representative from the Animal Star Awards.

Mrs Musgrove has been grooming dogs since developing PTSD, after the death of her partner, in 2016 and says the “comforting therapy” of working with dogs has helped her through difficult periods of her life.

She said: “I’m really excited, it’s going to be interesting because I’ve not seen a High Street shopfront like this in Chippenham before, so I’m also very nervous.

“My last salon was right out in the sticks so it will be nice to be a bit more visible.”

Mrs Musgrove previously owned a salon in Foxham but was forced to sell it and give up grooming for six months after being diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome in early 2023.

Her dream was kept alive when her husband built her a salon in their garden so she could continue her work when she was able.

The couple, who have two poodles themselves, have now teamed up, after Mr Musgrove left the construction business, to open their own salon near the centre of Chippenham.

Mr Musgrove added: “Katie has been grooming for a long time, so she has a lot of existing clients and there has already been a lot of new interest which is promising.

“This has been a dream since Katie started grooming, she’s always wanted that shopfront presence and it will be convenient for a lot of clients.

“It’s exciting to be able to build something of our own together where dogs will get the special treatment they all deserve.”

The unit is currently undergoing renovations to transform it into a salon ahead of opening for business.

Once completed, the pair will cater to all breeds of dogs and provide “luxury” services ranging from washing, styling and grooming to canine preventative dental care and cleaning, and nail trimming and filing.

Mrs Musgrove has previously been recognised for the quality of her work and scooped Pet Groomer of The Year 2023 at the Animal Star Awards.
