Hardenhuish School has received its latest Ofsted report after a recent inspection.

The Chippenham school was labelled ‘Good’ in a report published on December 13.

The assessment, carried out in October and November, was an ungraded inspection meaning no new ratings were handed out.

Any evidence the 1,563-pupil school should score higher or lower than its previous ‘Good’ rating would have prompted a graded inspection.

Inspectors judged that the academy, led by headteacher Lisa Percy, had maintained the standards from its last full inspection in 2013.

Pupils were described as “happy, polite, and respectful” and were “inspired” by teachers and staff, who were lauded for their “strong subject knowledge.”

This has reportedly created a “supportive environment” for students in which they feel safe, and their wellbeing is a priority.

The behaviour of pupils was also praised, with inspectors finding that high expectations surrounding student conduct had made the school “calm and orderly.”

Inside the classroom, the curriculum at Hardenhuish was judged to be “ambitious” and carefully refined to ensure lessons were both challenging and accessible.

Parents were overwhelmingly positive about their children’s education.

Inspectors noted the school could improve by encouraging children to read more widely and increasing participation in extra-curricular activities.
