The driver of a white van crashed into the back of another vehicle and then abandoned it on a busy Wiltshire road.
Wiltshire's Roads Policing Unit were called out to attend the two-vehicle incident on the A350 at Lacock on Thursday, November 9, but were shocked to find the van abandoned when they arrived.
"The van had collided with the rear of the vehicle in front. Unfortunately, the driver of the van didn't hang around to speak to us," wrote Wiltshire Specialist Ops on X (formally known as Twitter).
Specialist police officers and a firearms team had to force their way into the rear of the van to check that nobody was trapped inside, as the driver was not there to unlock the van.
The crash, which took place on the A350 northbound near the Whitehall Garden Centre turn-off, left the road partially blocked and traffic slow until Wiltshire Police were able to assess the situation and remove the van.
Nobody appears to have been injured in the crash, and traffic through the area is now flowing again as usual.
