Four new timetabled and on-demand bus routes are being introduced to better connect Marlborough to Devizes, Hungerford and Great Bedwyn.

The news come after several bus routes have been permanently cancelled across Wiltshire, including the routes 20, 22 and X22 which are all being withdrawn and replaced.

But from Monday, October 30, Wiltshire locals will find new buses to take them in and out of Marlborough's picturesque town.

Here’s the lowdown on the four new buses you need to know about:

On demand - Marlborough to Hungerford:

Wiltshire Connect, who offer ‘uber-like’ buses, will be introducing their third on-demand bus that will serve Marlborough.

The new bus will primarily operate in the area to the east of Marlborough and Hungerford, which includes Froxfield, Chilton Foliat, Ham, Shalbourne and Hungerford.

To use the bus, passengers simply put in their designated pick-up point on the Wiltshire Connect app.

They will then be able to track their bus in the app to see how far away it is, similar to the Uber app.

Pick up points include Marlborough’s High Street, Tesco and Savernake Hospital.

100 service - Marlborough to Devizes:

Wiltshire Connect’s new 100 service will run between Marlborough and Devizes, and unlike the on-demand buses, this will run at set times throughout the day.

The 100 bus will do four journeys in each direction (eight in total) Monday to Friday, from 7.30am to 6.20pm.

101 service - Pewsey to Devizes:

Although the 101 bus from Pewsey to Devizes is already up and running, it does not currently run through Marlborough.

With a new revised timetable that is based on passenger feedback, some journeys will now be running earlier or later, and the 5.40pm bus from Devizes will do a full journey, serving all villages en route (including Marlborough).

110 service - Marlborough to Great Bedwyn:

The introduction of the 110 timetabled service through Marlborough, Great Bedwyn and Hungerford is aimed to make it easier for Marlborough residents to get to Great Bedwyn Rail Station, without the hassle of parking.

This timetabled bus will complement the on-demand service, and start on October 30.

211 service – Wilton to Marlborough

This limited bus service will only run on Wednesdays.

Full details of the timetables for these new bus routes are available online on the Wiltshire Connect website, or you can get a paper timetable from Marlborough’s tourist kiosk in George Lane car park.
