A key route into a Wiltshire town centre is set to shut to motorists for the second time in as many months.
The A4 Bath Road will close between the Methuen Park Roundabout and The Pheasant Roundabout in Chippenham on Wednesday, October 31.
A closure order with a maximum duration of five days has been granted, between the hours of 7pm and 6am, although the works are expected to be completed in just one night.
This time loop cutting is being carried out by Atkins for pedestrian signals and other associated works, in the interests of “public safety.”
During the latest closure, drivers approaching from the Chequers Roundabout will be required to use a lengthy diversion route with a section of one of the main roads into Chippenham town centre out of action.
This will see them travel north on the A350 before turning onto the A420 Bristol Road and eventually rejoining the A4.
Wiltshire Council warned drivers to expect “delays” on the night of the closure and added that access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible.
