A teenager from Trowbridge has been arrested after a number of people spotted him in the town carrying what looked to be a gun.
Police officers were called to the scene at 6pm on Friday, October 6, after receiving reports of a teenager 'carrying a gun' from the public.
It is believed that armed police officers, a police helicopter and a dog unit were all in attendance.
Trowbridge Police said it carried out extensive area searches and CCTV enquiries, and a 15-year-old boy has now been arrested.
In a statement, Trowbridge Police said: “A 15-year-old boy has been arrested following a number of reports of a youth seen carrying a suspected firearm in Trowbridge at approximately 6pm yesterday (6/10).
“Following enquiries, a 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm."
Enquiries into the situation are ongoing, but the 15-year-old, who is unlikely to be named due to his age, is being held in custody in Gablecross for questioning.
