A 12-hour fundraising festival on a shared driveway in Pewsham has raised just under £8,000 for charity.

Who needs Reading and Glastonbury when you can have a party on your own driveway? That’s the idea behind Party on the Drive which took place on September 2.

The 12-hour fundraising party was held on the shared drive of Prince Scott and his neighbour Terry Brimble, who live on Tavinor Drive in Pewsham.

It is the third time the 66-year-old former Barclays and Wessex Water employee has teamed up with neighbours and friends to lay on the mini-festival, the last one being five years ago.

“We don’t do it for status: it’s our lifestyle,” said Prince Scott.

“We do it for the love of music, and we want to help other people who are less fortunate than us. To see everyone enjoying themselves makes it all worthwhile.”

The Mayor of Chippenham, Coun Declan Baseley, was just one of the people who turned up on the driveway, dressed in ceremonial chains for the occasion.

“It’s a fantastic event," he said. "It gives neighbours a chance to socialise and get to know each other better, whilst also raising money for some very worthy causes.

“I look forward to an even bigger event next time.”

For one day only, the shared driveway was transformed by a marquee, portable loo, raffle prizes and a bar for the charity event, which raised money for multiple local charities.

The day also featured live performances from Rokzylla, Hannah Brimble, Terry Franks, The Wildflowers, Vocal Works Gospel Choir, and The Ska La La band, as well as multiple DJ sets.

In total, £7,920.40 has been raised from the event, and the money will be shared between Sarcoma UK, Cancer Research UK, Prost8, and other local charities.

The 2023 party was supported by Aztec Electrical, Red Squirrel Plumbing, UK Power Solutions.

David Wilson Homes have also been key supporters, and this year’s event is in memory of neighbour and party co-founder Tim Blythe, who worked for the firm.

Prince and Terry said that without these sponsors, helpers, performers and supporters, the event just couldn’t have been possible.

But for those who might have missed this party, there’s no need to panic. The duo’s next fundraising event will be held on Saturday, February 18 2024, on behalf of Sarcoma UK.

The Big Band Valentine’s ball with Terry Franks and the 41 degrees big band is set to be just as much of a sellout, and tickets can be bought here.
