Visitors to Wiltshire were treated to an iconic scooter rally which took place at the weekend.

Hundreds of enthusiasts flocked to the county to take part in the Devizes Scooter Rally.

The rally is firmly on the calendar as one of the best events of its type in the West Country and was held at Lower Park Farm on the Whistley Road.

One of the highlights of the three-day weekend was a ride out where the scooter riders had the chance to take part in a planned-out route around the Devizes area and back to the ground.

Enthusiast Jules Thomas was full of praise for the running of the event.

She said: “The club have done a tremendous job in organising this event, which is as good as any national scooter rally.

“The ride out was organised in a really professional way with marshals organising the set route throughout the surrounding countryside of Devizes.

“With particular attention to the safety aspect, I have been to many national scooter rallies, and this is as good as any I have taken part in."

For one scooter enthusiast it’s become a family affair.

John Hallett of Trowbridge has owned and driven scooters for years and the interest in these machines has rubbed off on his daughter.

It’s a family outing when she joins her father at the events.

Christina just loves her Neo machine and joins him at all the rallies.

She said: “Having grown up with dad interested in scooters I have become passionate about owning my own scooter and soon we will both be off to the Isle of Wight national even."

The Devizes scooter rally was rated among the enthusiasts as truly spectacular with bands, stalls, food outlets, scooter judging and presentations.

Chairman Adam Ford was pleased at the success of the event, which was staged at Lower Park Farm for a second year.

He said: “My thanks go to the land owner for allowing us to hold our scooter rally in such a fabulous place and for all the unseen help, without it this rally would not have been such a success.”
