A man has been arrested for assaulting an emergency worker after police swarmed a main road in Wiltshire.
Officers stopped a vehicle on London Road in Chippenham, just before 10pm on Wednesday, July 26, after reports of a suspected drink driver in the town.
The driver of the car, Stacey Lamb of Monks Way, was ordered to carry out a roadside breathalyser test and blew over the limit.
The 25-year-old was subsequently arrested and has since been charged with drink driving.
A man in his 20s was also arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly but was further arrested after allegedly “assaulting an emergency worker”, say police.
He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
At the height of the incident two police vans and a further two police cars were spotted at the scene by witnesses.
An eyewitness claimed around 10 officers were in attendance and that neighbours could hear “lots of shouting” as suspects were put into the back of separate vans.
Lamb has now been released on bail and is due to appear in court at a later date.
