Two huge new warehouses under construction near the M4 are due to be completed by summer 2023, creating 600 jobs in the Chippenham area.

The project to bring two additional warehouses, one which is 342,000 square feet and another totalling 110,000 square feet, to Modwen Park in Chippenham is already underway.

Once construction is completed, the spaces have the potential to create jobs for up to 600 people, according to developers St Modwen Logistics.

The site, which is less than a mile from junction 17 of the M4, is already home to several businesses, including Huboo and FurnitureBox.

St Modwen’s development director Peter Davies said: “Chippenham benefits from its access to a skilled local labour force and its strategic location.

“However, there is an acute undersupply of high-quality warehousing and we are responding to that by delivering new schemes capable of creating hundreds of jobs for local people and providing occupiers with fit-for-purpose, sustainable logistics space.

“Our decision to progress with the expansion of St Modwen Park Chippenham and the delivery of our largest ever speculative development is testament to both the strength of the business’ investment and development expertise, and to the resilience of occupier demand in the southwest.”

The buildings are being constructed by Winvic and will be net carbon zero thanks to sustainable features like solar PV panels.
