A pedestrian has been killed after being hit by a car on a major Wiltshire road.
The man, who was in his 80s, died at the scene after a car struck him on the A4, between Calne and Chippenham, at around 6.45pm on Tuesday, February 7.
Emergency services rushed to the incident, which happened near Studley, but were unable to save him.
The road was closed for several hours between the A3102 junction and the A342 for Old Derry Hill, but has now reopened.
The man’s next of kin has been informed and will be supported by a specialist officer.

Wiltshire Police are now appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage of the incident as their enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for the police said: “We are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage following a fatal road traffic collision on the A4 New Road between Calne and Chippenham on Tuesday, February 7.
“We’d like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to get in touch if they have not already spoken to police.
“We would ask any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam which could assist our enquiries to contact Wiltshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 228 of February 7.
“Alternatively, you can contact the team direct on SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk.”
