Police have issued a warning to motorists after a number of unlocked cars were broken into in Wiltshire.

The police are investigating several thefts from parked cars, with the latest occurring on Thursday, January 26, in Kingsdown near Box.

There have also been reports of similar crimes in Chippenham, Lacock, Colerne, Grittleton and Stanton St Quintin.

In all of these cases the vehicles were left unlocked - allowing the thief or thieves to take everything of value from inside.

The police have now issued a warning to motorists, urging them to lock their vehicles and to not leave their valuables inside.

A spokesperson said: “We are investigating a number of car break-ins across this area of Wiltshire, with the latest on Thursday, January 26 in Kingsdown near Box.

“In all of the incidents the vehicles have been left unlocked and anything of value taken from them.

“We have other reported offences in Lacock, Colerne, Chippenham, Stanton St Quintin and Grittleton.

“We are urging motorists to leave their vehicles locked and not to leave valuables inside.
