A Marlborough care home has increased its Care Quality Commission (CQC) rating to ‘good’ after being served a warning notice.

Savernake View Care Home, on Salisbury Road, was inspected by the CQC on its leadership and safety in December after it was deemed the home ‘required improvement’ two months earlier.

The original inspection also found the home to be in breach of the Health and Social Care Act 2008, prompting a warning notice and a second evaluation.

The home achieved a rating of ‘good’ in these areas on their second unannounced inspection and was no longer in breach of the act.

Home manager Desiree Jooste welcomed the news. She said: “I am incredibly proud of this fantastic achievement, which is evidence of the dedication, compassion and diligence of every member of our team when it comes to providing our residents with the highest quality of care.”

Inspections also typically assess how effective, caring and responsive settings are, but these were not assessed as Savernake View had achieved a ‘good’ rating for these factors in October.

The result places Savernake View, which is run by Porthaven Care Homes, amongst the best performing in Marlborough.

The home provides 24 hour dementia, residential, nursing and respite care and housed 48 residents at the time of inspection.
