A man in his 40s was rushed to hospital with GBH-level injuries and another man suffered minor injuries after being assaulted by a car driver.

Wiltshire Police are now appealing for witnesses to the serious assault in Market Lavington in the early hours of November 16.

They said that at around ten past midnight, two men and a woman were walking from the Royal Oak, Easterton, along High Street towards Market Lavington, when they were approached by a third man in a car.

Following a conversation, the man then drove off, and the three pedestrians took a back route via the Grove Road estate onto The Spring near Lavington Lane.

The driver then approached them again and got out of the car, and during the altercation that followed one man in his 40s suffered grievous bodily harm level injuries and was taken to hospital.

Another man in his 20s suffered minor injuries.

The driver then drove off.

A suspect in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has been released under investigation.

Police have appealed for any potential witnesses to come forward, and have asked residents near The Spring to check any doorbell or CCTV footage at around 00.11am on November 16.

They have also requesting any dashcam footage from people travelling through the village at around that time.
