Autumn is in the air in Devizes, as the annual fair returns to the Corn Exchange for the first time since the pandemic.

More than 30 businesses set up stalls at the annual event, which supports the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust.

Some of the money raised will also be going to Dorothy House Hospice Care and Julia’s House this year.

Taking place on October 4 from 10am-4:30pm, people were able to browse the stalls amid a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Entry was £5, and went into the charity which aims to support people aged over 60, or over 18 who live with a registered disability with staying safe online.

The event has been raising money for local charities for over 20 years, and in that times has given thousands of pounds to different causes.

The stores this year sold the likes of beauty products, cashmere, belts, toys, clothing, scarves, jewellery, handbags, garden tools, faux flowers and delicious food- with stall holders all independent and are a mix of both local and further afield.

Jennie Shaw, Director of The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust told this newspaper: “This is just a one day fair this year, we have done it in the past with evening drinks so it’s quite early.

“But people have been coming in through the doors, it’s busy, they are shopping and buying and it’s still so lovely to see people out and about again after we couldn’t hold the event because of Covid.

“I think people are still getting back to seeing family at Christmas time so they are shopping here and buying gifts.”

Nick Hancock runs a business called the Oil Hut with his wife and brought some of his products to the event in Devizes which made a change from their usual online work.

He said: “We mainly work online and deliver products out to people, but we do still go out to things like this sometimes.”

Georgia Hainault also came down to sell her gin products from Cambridgeshire.

She said: “We go all over the country, but we do lots of business in the area so it’s nice to come down.

“I do know the area quite well as I grew up in Wiltshire and I came down to the show here a couple of years ago before Covid so it’s good to be back.”
