An illegal rave recently took place over the weekend at a farm in the Great Cheverell area.

The event took place on October 2, when officers were called to turn away people who were arriving.

They stated at 8:45am on Sunday morning that they were "starting to leave the area" but were still at the scene at the time.

Helen Hall, who lives in the house closest to where the rave took place at the bottom of a hill, is concerned that incidents like this pose a major threat to people's safety.

She says that she has spoken directly to the people attending and there should be more organisation taking place.

She said: "Apparently it’s not hurting anyone - there has been at least one fatality and a number of serious injuries as a direct consequence of a previous rave.

"There were three ambulances trapped up there yesterday- maybe they were needed elsewhere.

"Every available police officer in Wiltshire was there - all this costs, both financially and not having police available in emergencies.

"Animals have died as a result of eating rubbish, and there is now a fair amount of broken glass strewn about, which could cause injury."

Helen has been raising her concerns online, but explained she was met with a backlash when she tried to talk about the problem.

She stated: "After a post intended to be a simple heads up about the rave decended into vitriol and personal attack.

"My view from probably the most affected house is that I agree that kids should be allowed their fun and the barns are an excellent place for it.

"My problem is with the organisers - there are no rubbish collection points and they supply no toilet facilities.

"When you have 2500 people in one area for up to 48 hours there is human waste everywhere.

Helen added: "I know that I’m probably going to be attacked for daring to have an opinion, but I felt that it should be pointed out that it’s not all sweetness and light and there are consequences."

Adrian Elsworth said to this newspaper: "No one was killed or injured? People are just having fun."
