Two men have been assaulted in Devizes by a group of young people. 

The incident occured at around 11.45pm on Friday, September 30, when two men in their 50s were near The British Lion pub. 

They were approached by a group of young males and then attacked.

Both men were taken to hospital.

One received cuts and bruising to his head, the other man was more seriously injured having been knocked unconscious and is currently being treated in hospital.

The group of suspects, described as being in their late teens, early twenties, ran off in two directions – two males ran towards nearby Morrisons’ supermarket and three others ran towards Sainsbury’s car park.

One male from the group is described as having short dark hair, wearing a black t-shirt, dark trousers and a grey hoody tied across his body.

A spokesperson for Devizes Police said: "We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the assault or anything suspicious before or afterwards late on Friday night into the early hours of Saturday (01/10) morning.
