One of Wiltshire’s most expensive homes: £6m Everleigh Manor is one of the most pricey properties on the market right now.

The historical manor is currently listed on Rightmove as the joint most expensive house in the county for sale on Rightmove, alongside Luckington Court in Chippenham.

Everleigh Manor, which is described as “one of Wiltshire’s finest country homes” by Fine & Country in style, was originally the home of the Saxon King Ine (Ina), and goes as far back as 688-728 AD.

The house is clearly fit for a queen or king, as in later centuries, it boasts a number of royal connections and was owned by the crown over the reigns of Henry VI, Henry VII and Elizabeth I.

Mary Queen of Scots also allegedly visited the home ‘in secret’ while Tutbury Castle was responsible for it.

From the outside, it presents as a grand, long building oozing with all of the traditional features you would want from a manor home (not that I'll be making an offer any time soon, but one can dream).

Surrounded by glorious Wiltshire countryside, it seems like the ideal place to escape from reality and enjoy some fresh, Marlborough air.

Once inside, it almost reminds me of the house the Von Trap family lived in on the Sound of Music, with winding staircases and an open hallway which looks more like a museum than the middle of someone's house.

And the bedrooms look like something from a Disney film.

I don't think I'd ever be able to leave this bed if I lived here, personally.

The best thing about this house though has to be the swim-spa, gymnasium, sauna and steam room.

There are lots of different facets to the property (the new owners will need a map to save them from getting lost), as it encompasses the main house, an Orangery, the West Wing, which has been run as a successful bed and breakfast business, a one-bedroom cottage and external grounds which stretch over the soace of 30 acres altogether.

The outdoor space will be good news to any horse lovers, as an area of paddock has been fenced off to the south of the grounds, and there is described to be 'significant equestrian potential' as there are further garages and workshop space in addition to a large amount of hard-standing ground.
