FORMER Dragon’s Den and Moonpig Founder Nick Jenkins is to help an award-winning Wiltshire furniture company to celebrate the opening of its new warehouse close to the M4 motorway.

Mr Jenkins has been invited to cut the ribbon on Furniturebox’s new 15-metre high new and state-of-the-art headquarters on September 17.

The new building is located on an 88,000 square feet plot equivalent to 1,200 double decker buses at St Modwen’s Park in Chippenham close to Junction 17 of the M4.

It will be covered in solar panels and will include a bank of electric car charging points, five floors of stock storage and cutting-edge stock-picking technology, all 18 months in the making.

Furniturebox is a UK-based online furniture business specialising in quality products at affordable prices. Founders Monty George and Dan Beckles were just 17 years old when they launched the company in Salisbury in 2015 — and the two haven’t looked back.

“We actually met Nick a few years ago in the early days of Furniturebox," Mr Beckles said. "Nick was kind enough to give Monty and I some amazing advice and support as we embarked on this life-changing journey starting up Furniturebox from Monty’s basement, and we’re so happy Nick’s agreed to come back and help mark the occasion of us growing into a bigger and better home.”

The co-founders say it’s been incredibly important for them to stay in Wiltshire and give back to the local economy that helped them grow in the first place.

Mr George said: "A lot of thought's been put into the wider site layout, with a lot of focus on reducing our carbon impacts and offsetting with green initiatives.

“There’s lots of green space, too, so our staff can take walks during their lunch, eat outside, and socialise with other companies on the site, which will all enhance the overall wellbeing for Furniturebox staff based there. It's a big focus for us."

Mr Beckles and Mr George now employ a total of 48 staff across their Wiltshire and Bristol offices and their current warehouse is scheduled to close once the Chippenham warehouse is open and fully operational.

After winning the Wiltshire Business of the Year award twice in a row, as well as making it onto the Sunday Times 100 and Brightpearl Lightning 50 as fastest growing South-West business, and its founders being invited to join the Forbes ‘30 Under 30’ 2022 cohort, it seems Furniturebox isn’t about to slow down any time soon.

The new warehouse and offices will give Furniturebox room to grow and expand their product line fivefold.
