The politicians bidding to be the next Prime Minister have been spending time in our neck of the woods recently.

Rishi Sunak paid a visit to Devizes on Sunday (July 31), according to James Gray MP.

It is understood Mr Sunak gave a private talk to the town's Conservative members association.

It’s full steam ahead for Suank and Truss, as the leadership race continues for one to become the next Prime Minister - and it seems like he made quite the impression on the MP for North Wiltshire over the weekend.

He stated: “Rishi’s rallies in Fairford and Devizes on Sunday and am full of admiration for his abilities and energy- as were the many hundreds of Conservative members who met him.”

Liz Truss is also set to be in the area in the near future - as Gray also confirmed that she will be in Devizes today (August 2).

He added in a statement on Monday: “I will similarly look forward to seeing Liz Truss in Devizes tomorrow and will of course listen very carefully to what she has to say.

“Both are first class candidates, and I am delighted that they have taken so much trouble to come down to Wiltshire to see us and seek our vote. I will be glad to serve behind either of them.”
