New speed limit 

Wiltshire Council wants to introduce a 50mph speed limit on B4039, Castle Combe – from a point 130 metres north west of its junction with Whitegates to a point 125 metres south east of its junction with C71 Fosseway.

Road closures

Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all traffic: A) Northgate Street (Part), Devizes; from its roundabout junction with A361 to its junction with The Market Place. B) The Market Place, Devizes; from its junction with Northgate Street to its junction with St Johns Street. C) St Johns Street, Devizes; from its junction with The Market Place to its junction with Long Street. D) Long Street (Part), Devizes; from its junction with St John’s Street to its junction with Bridewell Street. Alternative route via A361 – A360 – Long Street (unaffected length) and vice versa.

These temporary traffic measures are required to safeguard members of the public and competitors while enabling the Queens Baton Relay Race to take place. The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

This will be on July 5 and the closure will be required between the hours of 7am and 10am with the exception of vehicles officially involved in the Queens Baton Relay Race, vehicles being used for ambulance, police or fire brigade purposes, or the purpose of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, or with permission being given by a Police Constable in uniform.

Wiltshire Council intends to close temporarily to all traffic: A) B4040 (Part), Charlton; from its junction with Vicarage Lane for a distance of approximately 280m in an easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out installation of bypass, meter, valves and washouts onto watermain.

Alternative route via B4040 (unaffected length) – A429 – B4042 – B4696 – B4040 (unaffected length) and vice versa.

This Order will come into operation on July 25 and the closure will be required until August 5.
