BISHOPS CANNINGS: Plans have been submitted to convert a garage on West End Farmhouse into a farm shop.

West End Farm is a 750-acre farm including an outdoor pig herd on Roundway Hill, a high welfare pig fattening unit in the main farm buildings, a flock of 100 ewes plus lambs, and 600 acres of arable crops.

In 2011 consent was granted to convert part of the garage adjacent to the Farmhouse into a smokehouse for smoking pigmeat, and the owners would now like to convert this building into a small farm shop.

The shop will primarily be for selling meat from the animals raised on the farm, but they would also like to sell other products from local producers, and especially from other Crown Estate Holdings, eg vegetables from Bromham.

CHIPPENHAM: Developers are once again after permission to build 230 homes, a pub and a takeaway on land near Chippenham.

Robert Hitchens Limited also want to build a local centre and open space on land off the B4069 - also known as Maud Heath's Causeway - East of Barrow Farm, Langley Burrell.

The development would be accessed from the B4069 Maud Heath's Causeway/Swindon Road.

It comes following the withdrawal of an outline application for 250 dwellings and a local centre at the same site, and the applicants says it and addresses points raised by the council during the consideration of that planning application.

TROWBRIDGE: Plans have been submitted to turn a former engineering store into two studio flats.

The application is for change of use from a former store at 5 Court Street, Trowbridge.

The site was used for the storage of materials used by Wiltshire Steeplejacks - a company of lightning conductor engineers - for more than 40 years.

The company relocated to a new purpose built premisses in Eastbourne Road in May, which is why it is now vacant.

The application is for a pair of bedsits/studios, which the planning documents say the current housing market in Trowbridge has a shortfall of.

WESTBURY: An application has been submitted seeking permission to demolish a listed building.

‘Building 13, Guildford Block’ located at the Leighton House site in Westbury.

Leighton House is a Grade II listed former country house, currently occupied by the Army Officer Selection Board. The building functions as the RCB Officer’s Mess and provides living accommodation for officers, and supportive ancillary facilities.

This includes attributed dining and function spaces, kitchens, offices for mess managers and staff, rest rooms and storage space.

The planning documents say "it is of our opinion that the Historic Building Record demonstrates Building 13 - Guildford Block is outdated and no longer considered of serviceable use to the Army. Demolition of the building would prove beneficial from an operational perspective".
