ALMOST £20,000 worth of machinery and tools were stolen during a burglary in Erlestoke earlier this month.

They were taken during a burglary at Erlestoke Golf Club overnight between June 9 and 10 after the offenders broke into a secure building and stole a large number of tools, as well as ride-on mowers.

Detectives from the Wiltshire Police Fortitude South team have been investigating and looking at links to a suspicious vehicle which had been spotted at other golf clubs across the county.

A white Ford Transit van was identified and traced to an address in Hampshire, where it was seized and brought back to Wiltshire.

It was searched, and the team discovered almost all of the items stolen in Erlestoke.

Detective Sergeant Darren Penny, from Fortitude South, said: “We know that this burglary had a huge impact on the golf club and its members, and we have been carrying out significant enquiries to identify the suspects.

“At this stage no arrests have been made, but we were very pleased to be able to return these stolen goods to the club. They were very grateful and delighted to have the items back."
