Here are some of the latest planning applications submitted to Wiltshire Council this week.

CHIPPENHAM: Plans have been resubmitted to convert buildings at The Old Builders Yard, Startley, into homes.

The documents say that "careful regard has been had to the Council’s decision notice which raised a general concern with regard to the established condition of the buildings upon the site and their capacity to be converted."

Its added that attempts to engage with the Council following its decision "have not been successful as the Council has, disappointingly, failed to respond to correspondence".

The applicants say the buildings are long-established, have historically been leased by a variety of local businesses and benefit from an "undisputed Certificate of Lawful Development for light and general industrial uses".

They add: "It is not currently considered economically viable to invest in the existing structures for modern commercial operations due to the comparatively modest rental potential available in this location."

If approved, they would build two houses.

DEVIZES: Permission is wanted to build a garage and stable at Chilsbury House, on Eastwell Road in Potterne.

The garage would serve the existing dwelling, and there would also be the change of use of the adjacent paddock to equestrian and the provision of a new two-stall stable on the paddock.

The change of use would allow the applicant to keep their own horses at the site and to be able to suitably exercise them. The equestrian use of the site will be for the applicant only and will not involve any commercial activities.

TROWBRIDGE: PLANS have been submitted to expand a former hotel in Trowbridge to create more homes.

If approved, a redundant toilet block at the old Crown Hotel would form a kitchen extension to an existing dwelling.

The applicant also wants to add and reconfigure rooflights and make adjustments to the layouts of some of the dwellings.

The Crown is a grade II listed building, and forms the corner of a terrace all of which are also listed buildings.

The area of the rear of 12 Timbrell Street which is the subject of this application currently has two use classifications – part residential and part commercial. The existing cottage to the rear of the site is already established for domestic use.

The proposal is for two one-bedroom mezzanine apartments, and a two-bedroom cottage incorporating the existing toilet block as the kitchen and WC in the existing cottage.

CHAPMANSLADE: An application to demolish two stable buildings in order to build a new house and garage in Chapmanslade has been approved.

The work will take place on land to the south of 92 High Street, in the village near Warminster.

The planning documents say: "We would suggest that a single new house here would not add any significant load onto local resources, and even if there were some minor impacts, this would be outweighed by the benefits of an additional family home built to modern sustainability and energy efficiency standards helping promote long term choice for the village.

"The applicants building their own home will free up 96 High Street for new or upscaling residents who are likely to use and help bolster local businesses and facilities."

EXTENSIONS: Applications have been lodged to build extensions to houses, or to build or convert outbuildings and lofts at: Chalfont, Bath Road, Chippenham; 12 Cliff Road, Sherston, Malmesbury; 22 Shurnhold, Melksham; Crew House, Eastcourt, Malmesbury; Manor Farm, Grittenham; 57 Rutland Crescent, Trowbridge; Forli Acre, Station Approach, Minety, Malmesbury.
