School children from Dauntsey Academy Primary got a special visit from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue team, but little did they know that they would get to have so much fun.

The Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Team were invited along to the school to support the EYFS class in their current topic on ‘Ticket to Ride.’ The aim of the topic is for the children to focus on all vehicles in the air, on the land and in the sea.

However, the Fire Engine had the added advantage of a big tank of water which with a little coaxing from both the children and the teachers, turned playtime into splash time.

Both the crew and teachers had a go on the hoses, and the crew let the children explore inside the Fire Engine to show them all the kit and answer their questions.

A spokesperson for the school said: “The day supported the school's outdoor’ learning day where the children spent most of their day learning outside, taking their classes in and around the school grounds.

“DAPS benefits from having a wonderful Forest School and large playing fields, allowing the children to embrace their outside space as their classroom for the day.”
