A 61-year-old from Marlborough has been fined a total of £4,254.54 after abandoning a ‘motor vehicle’ on Silverless Street on 10 December last year.
Simon Bell, of Herd Street in Marlborough, was in breach of section 2(1) of the Refuse Disposal (Amenity) Act 197, according to Swindon Magistrates’ Court.
The court stated: ‘The defendant without lawful authority, abandoned on land forming part of a highway, namely Silverless Street, Marlborough, a motor vehicle.’
Simon was ordered to pay costs of £4,144.54 as well as a surcharge to fund victim services of £110, all of which are due by 3 June this year.
The verdict was proved in absence, meaning the court decided to sentence him for the offence even though he did not attend the court hearing in person.
