Runners have proudly sported the colours blue and yellow in support of Ukraine in their weekly Parkrun.

Runners, volunteers and supporters of the  Marlborough Common Parkrun collected £160 which will go to the Red Cross for their Ukraine appeal.

Clothes and goods for local Ukrainian families were also collected at the event.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

It was the idea of park runners Gina Cooke and Erica Stuart.

Erica said: “The Ukrainians arriving in the area left their homes with very little in the way of personal possessions.

“Many of us have things in our homes which are currently just gathering dust and the aspiration is to build up a “shop” that the Ukranians can come and select some things that they like which will be free.

“They do not have a lot of space to store things so ideally we are looking for clothes for the summer months.”

Gina said: “We were thrilled that Vlad, a young visitor from Ukraine, could count us down and start us off.

“Then, right on cue the sun came out which made it a very pleasant morning to sprint, jog or walk around our beautiful common.

“The plan is to do another appeal for winter later in the year”.
