PM says one thing and does another

I am constantly amazed by various government ministers and spokesmen as well as letters from some Evening Advertiser readers attempting to defend Boris Johnson's lawbreaking during Lockdown.

If it did not occur to Johnson to stop and break up any kind of gatherings in Downing Street at a time when he was constantly reminding the public that they must not meet family and friends to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus, save lives and protect the NHS - he is clearly unfit to be in charge of running the country.

The same can be said of the Northern Ireland Protocol deal he signed to 'get Brexit done' which he and his ministers have since claimed is unworkable. If so - why did he sign it?

For anyone to repeatedly state the government has more important things to consider at the current time is an insult to the public - many of whom made huge sacrifices during Lockdown.

Children as well as adults were unable to celebrate their birthdays and important milestone life events whilst grieving family members were unable to comfort or visit loved ones in their hour of need. Johnson claimed in his so called apology to understand the sacrifices made by the rest of us - how could he when he, his wife and apparently many of his work colleagues didn't stick to the rules he set for the country!

The situation in Ukraine is very serious but needs to be dealt with by people who can deliver policies and sign treaties they understand and mean to adhere to unlike Johnson who says or signs one thing and does another.

Johnson is not leading the international community - there is a joint effort by the leaders of many countries working together to help solve the Ukraine crisis.

This issue of the Prime Minister's accountability for his actions during Lockdown is not going to go away.

We are still waiting for the results of other Metropolitan Police investigations and the Sue Gray report. Not all Conservatives are in agreement with Johnson's behaviour as shown by Lord David Wolfson resigning as a justice minister and MP for the Forest of Dean Mark Harper and Baroness Davidson of Lundin publicly calling for Johnson's resignation.

Hopefully people will consider Johnson's actions very carefully and ask themselves would they be supporting such behaviour if shown by those in opposition to this government.

If not they should not be making excuses for the Prime Minister and his cabinet. It is imperative that those in Government act with honesty, integrity and concern for the wellbeing of everyone in the country at all times.

Fed up at post delays

I wonder whether other readers have experienced anything similar to this.

We have been expecting certain overdue correspondence to arrive; today (Friday) eight letters popped through the letterbox all together, the first delivery by so-called "Royal Mail"- what a joke) for about 10 days.

Perhaps they would care to explain the delay, having pushed up the price of stamps to a ridiculous level.
