He’s only three-years-old now, but fledgling Wiltshire skateboarder Rumie Espeut-Nickless and his brother Obie, 6, could be on their way to becoming the pride of Team GB at the Brisbane Olympics in 10 years’ time.

Rumie and Obie, from Melksham, astonished talent scouts from Team Rubicon, the UK’s leading provider of action sports coaching, at an open day for skateboarders at Wiltshire FA’s skateboard park in Devizes.

Every year Team Rubicon teaches tens of thousands of children to skateboard and its director Geoff Else and trainer colleague Alex McCarthy were amazed by the skill and early prowess of Obie and Rumie.

“We are touring Britain making notes on who has great potential and just watching Obie and his brother was very interesting indeed,” said Geoff, “it’s very rare to see people that young to be this good.”

And fearless too – even when Rumie came off his board he was straight back on it to skate the slopes with ease. Who knows, in 2032 Wiltshire could be cheering on the local lads at The Olympics Down Under?
