Police investigating a spate of graffiti in Malmesbury are appealing for information from the public after potentially identifying those responsible for the eyesores.

PCSO Becky Walsh from the local neighbourhood policing team has collated a file of a variety of incidents of graffiti around the town.

So far she has identified a large number of sites where graffiti has been spraypainted, including:

  • In and around the vicinity of the Co-op on Tetbury Hill
  • The bus shelter on Tetbury Hill
  • The bins at the top of Niebull Close and Kings Wall
  • The green electric box outside of the Riverside Community Centre
  • A new fence coming along Reeds Farm Road
  • A fence near Malmesbury Primary School running alongside the Vice football club
  • The Kwik Fit tyre building
  • Co-Op pillar
  • A lamppost running alongside Abbey House
  • The signs at the bottom of the Abbey Steps
  • And finally the wall along Kings Wall

A police spokesman said: “PCSO Walsh is now carrying out enquiries and has identified some potential suspects, but she needs to ensure all the relevant locations and any victims have been reported to the police.”

Sergeant Katharine Smith added: “Unfortunately we have seen an increase in graffiti in the Malmesbury area and we know that this causes a huge amount of frustration and annoyance for the local community.

“As part of our investigation we need to make sure we have a full picture of the scale of the issue, and we would encourage people to report these matters to us.

"If you have been a victim of graffiti or have any information please contact us on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.”
