Julia's House children's hospice is back this year with its full programme of fundraising events for the first time since the pandemic began.

The charity is encouraging people to take up one of its exciting challenges to help raise money to support seriously ill children.

From the Great Wiltshire Walk to sky diving to trekking the Jurassic Coast, there's lots of fundraising activities to get involved in.

Hannah Miller, events manager at Julia's House said: “Like many charities, we were forced to cancel so many of our events over the last two years which has had a significant impact on our fundraising income and has also been disappointing for lots of people, who we know love to come out and support us in this way.

“We have been able to run some of our events on a smaller scale but it feels so good to be back and planning our big challenges again.

"We want to give everyone a chance to do something they’ve never done before, set some exciting personal goals and have fun together knowing they’re helping those most in need in our local community too.”

The children’s hospice relies entirely on public donations, fundraising and legacies to run its vital services supporting the families of children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

The Great Wiltshire Walk, July 17: The famous walk is back and it's bigger and better than ever. Volunteers can choose the 13 or the 26-mile route but both promise spectacular scenery and iconic landmarks such as Avebury’s World Heritage Stone Circle. Participants will be greeted with a glass of fizz and much more at the finish line event in the gardens of the King’s Arms in All Cannings.

The Big Jump, April 23: The ever-popular sky dive is taking place at the Army Parachute Association near Salisbury. Places are limited so the charity recommends a quick sign-up to enjoy the spectacular aerial views on the way down.

Trek the Jurassic Coast, June 26: Breath-taking views are a given for those who trek along the Dorset coastline. At the end, there will be prosecco and a hog roast in the beautiful grounds of Harry Warren House over-looking the famous Old Harry Rocks.

Run Bournemouth, October 8-9: Choose from a half-marathon, 10k or 5k and fundraise for Julia's House in Bournemouth. There are even junior races for children aged from three to 12.

Tailor-made treks: Julia’s House now offers specially trained guides who can organise a private guided hike in Wiltshire or Dorset. This is perfect for local businesses looking to inspire team building or friends hoping to celebrate a special occasion. Just choose when and where, how far and how challenging.

Anyone who signs up will receive one-to-one support fromthe charity’s events team, a free running vest or t-shirt, medal and access to a Fundraisers Facebook Group, where you’ll be kept updated and provided with plenty of tips to help with your fundraising.
