A woman in her 20s has died following a two-vehicle crash in Southwick, near Trowbridge.

Emergency services were called to A361 Frome Road shortly after 11am yesterday (January 10) after a collision between a blue Citroen C3 and a white tipper truck.

Two other people were seriously injured and the road was closed both ways between Wynsome Street and Silver Street Lane in Southwick, for around 10 hours.

The investigation by Wiltshire Police is ongoing.

A spokeswoman said: "The driver of the car, a woman in her 20s, sadly died at the scene.

"Her family have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time.

"A passenger in the car, a man in his 20s, was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with serious injuries.

"The male driver of the truck suffered serious leg injuries and was also taken to hospital.

"The road was closed for around ten hours to allow collision investigation work to be carried out and reopened at around 9pm last night."

Officers are asking any witnesses, or anyone who saw either vehicle shortly before the collision, to call Wiltshire Police’s Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting log 76 of yesterday (January 10).
