Three casualties have been "extricated" from vehicles after a "serious" crash closed a major road out of Trowbridge this morning (January 10).

The A361 Frome Road in Southwick remains closed both ways between Wynsome Street and Silver Street Lane, after an accident believed to have occurred shortly after 11am.

A police blockade has restricted access to the road and there were reports an air ambulance was on scene.

"Two crews from Trowbridge attended and a total of three casualties were extricated from the vehicles. Our stop was at 12.34pm."

Police have described the incident as "serious" and urged motorists to "avoid the area."

“We were called to the scene shortly after 11am today (10/01) and a section of the road has been closed between College Road and Wynsome Street.
