POLICE in Devizes have taken some children home to their parents after receiving reports about a group of youths causing anti-social behaviour in the town.

They were forced to take action on Monday evening (January 3) after receiving "numerous calls" about youths misbehaving in the town centre.

As a result, officers responded and took some children home to their parents.

They also conducted stop and searches of four young people and issued a Section 35 Dispersal order to individuals identified causing issues.

This means they cannot return to the area for a specified period of time and have been given direction to leave.

A Police spokesman said: "This behaviour will not be tolerated, we will deal with it robustly and take it very seriously.

"Our aim is to ensure the safety of the public and reduce the risk of disorder in Devizes."

They have urged parents to find out where your children are when they go out.

Anyone witnessing anti-social behaviour in Devizes is being encouraged to report it on 101 or call 999 in an emergency.
