Former Detective Sergeant Robert (Bob) Cooper, has been awarded the Queen’s Police Medal in the New Year Honours list 2022.

DS Cooper undertook a wide variety of policing roles during his exemplary 30 year career with Wiltshire Police including; fraud investigation, working for the Serious Organised Crime Unit, as an Investigative Adviser, and a Tactical Lead on Rape and Serious Sexual Offences and also leading on Investigative Crime Standards.

DS Cooper shared his expertise and experience as lead on Investigative Crime Standards where he played a pivotal role in helping to drive improvements in interviewing, crime scene preservation and a range of other investigation areas.

Bob was seconded to the National Crime Agency (NCA) from 2012 to 2017 as a Major Crime SIO investigation adviser.

Since his retirement last year, he has continued to work in an advisory capacity for the NCA, providing tactical advice and guidance on serious and major crime investigations.

Wiltshire Police Chief Constable Kier Pritchard paid tribute to his former colleague: “This honour is a fitting tribute to the dedication and outstanding professionalism he has shown throughout his policing career.”
