CHRISTMAS came early for some families in Chippenham as they got the keys to affordable homes as part of a council project.

Wiltshire Council, in contract with Redcliffe Homes, provided 17 affordable rented and 11 shared ownership homes in Rowden Brook.

Last week families started to move into the rental properties with their front doors adorned with a welcoming festive star.

Each of the homes is built to a high standard and with good energy performance, the council revealed.

This is part of Wiltshire Council’s drive to provide 1,000 affordable homes over the next decade.

Cabinet member for housing, Phil Alford said: “To see families move into their new homes in time for Christmas is fantastic, and we hope this sets them up for a happy new year.

"Our innovative approach to providing homes of all different kinds and catering for a variety of needs always has the future occupants right at the heart of it, and we’re delighted to see more people having the opportunity to lives in these types of houses.

“We look forward to seeing and sharing more progress on the programme in 2022.”
